Default My Christmas present

I just bought myself a nice Christmas present. I tried like hell to find a set of OMD-28 to no avail.

What do y'all think?

You might regret the change - M series Mirage speakers are a hard act to follow - I hope you demo'd them first. If you like - Please sell your MC-Si to Ozzman at a decent price he needs it

I did demo them and they sounded great. I did not demo the 28's but would have purchased had I found a pair.

Why do you suggest I might regret the choice? The OMDR's are a fantastic sounding surround as is the center OMDC2. Combined with the 15's I expect a fantastic listening experience.

By the way, I may not sell the old stuff. It isn't a money thing.

I didn't mean to imply I was rolling in dough. The market value for the M5-SI pair and the center MC-SI is not too high. Together they might bring $800, probably less. That isn't chump change but I hate trying to sell used items. The aggravation isn't worth it.

I'll stow them for a while.....then if I find the new speakers are what I expect......I'll probably make a gift of the old ones.

Retail I would not have done ($6500). I don't know how they sell so cheap and have free shipping as well.

I do not promise I'll ever part with the old speakers, but if that is what I decide to do I'll give you a jingle.

Well,
Everything arrived before Christmas. They said the 29th, but I guess Fedex pushed them because of the holiday.

I spent Wednesday setting up the OMD15's and the OMDC2. I was able to go back and forth listening to the M5's and the Omd15's Damn I really like the OMD15's. I could not push them too hard because of the break in period , but they sound fantastic. I experimented with placement for a while and finally got them where I felt they sounded the best. They are a fine pair of speakers. If these sound this good I can only imagine the 28's. I wish I had decided on this purchase sooner and i'd have a pair. Oh well, I love the 15's.
I really like the cabinet. Once I moved the M5's out of the room it really looked weird for a while, but now all I see is the beautifully sleek and glossy cabinet of the 15.

Comparing the two is hard. I don't have the right words to describe the differences. They are different. All I can say is my ear appreciates both sets but at this point the m5si's are going to take a break.

After the 15's were set I set up the OMDC2. This is a monster center speaker and it really performs. I used this with a music DVD and the combination was awesome.

I did not get around to setting up the OMD-R's. I need to run some wiring. These are huge surround speakers. They sure could not be called a satellite with their size. I can only imagine how they sound. I'm in no hurry on these since I primarily listen to music.

I cannot wait for the break in period to end. It says moderate listening for about 100 hours. I've done about 25 so far. The literature says the optimum sound will not be reached until the 100 or so hours. They will sound better? Awesome

One more thing. I received a pair of OMD5's as a gift. I felt like I was in speaker heaven. I don't see me going to 7.1 but I'll stow the omd5's for some future use. I'm lucky, the person that bought them for me lives far away and will never know.

I hope everyone had a nice Christmas , and I really hope you had some new components or speakers under the tree. I sure am having a blast with my new speakers.

The sound of the classic Mirage speakers is quite different from the current omnipolar line. The power and strength behind the M series is legendary!!!! Thats the only thing - you may like the sound of the OM series better - I'm just a vintage nut thats all

Once I get a new stand the C2 will be centered but it does not fit in front of the TV. I'll solve that this weekend.

Nice equipment...it's not that i didn't believe you, i just like to check out other people's set-ups to get ideas. What is that round thing behind your right front? And yeah, it looks like you might need a bigger tv stand. I have a similar problem with my center blocking part of my display (soon to be fixed ) You also need some wire management and you'll be set

The round thing is an antennae. I have an old antennae on my roof that doesn't seem to be working so I bought that from Radio Shack a short time ago. I really need to get it out of there but right now it provides me with free HD tv signals.

I am going stand hunting today. I did see a stand that had an attached TV pole which gets the TV off the top shelf. This would work fine for me. I'd have the center on the top. I would like to find a wide TV stand that also has the TV pole and 3 shelves with the top being the 4th. I have a CD player and another amp I want to fit into the mix.

I'll get it al cleaned up and bury some wires then settle in and listen to some good music.

Default Jackpot

I got very lucky last night. I was out on Vanns site looking in the clearance area and there was a set of Rosewood OMD-28's. I couldn't believe it. I jumped on them. I had wanted the 28's but they were gone at Vanns and Crutchfield. I was very disappointed but accepted the omd-15's and loved them. Until last night. I have loved the sound of the 15's, so now I cannot wait until the 28's arrive.

Mirage OMD-R Black $399.88 1
Mirage OMD-R Black $399.88 1
MIRA OMD28 GLOSS BLACK $1249 1
MIRA OMD28 GLOSS BLACK $1249 1
MIRA OMDC2 BLACK $700.00 1 $700.00

$3997 with no tax or shipping costs for speakers that sold for at 11,500 not too long ago. Damn.
