Default Please help with PS3, Onkyo

So my wife (I LOVE HER) just bought me a Onkyo HT-s6100 for X-mas. I love this thing. Anyways, I want to know does the PS3 use Dolby TrueHD and DTS-HD Master?

Because the weird thing about it, I select the Dolby TrueHD on a Blu-Ray and the light on Receiver for the "TrueHD" does not like up. Instead I get the MultiCH thing. I am using HDMI cables too.

Also is there a way that my receiver can automatically pick up the correct sound format without me having to cycle though it manualy?

PLEASE HELP! Thanks!

The PS3 internally decodes the HD audio tracks and passes them to the receiver as a PCM signal (be sure to select PCM rather than bitstream in the PS3's audio settings). This means that the receiver will not detect the audio as a Dolby TrueHD or DTS HD MA signal and, consequently, will not use the display indicator for either of those audio codecs. You can use the "select" button on the PS3 controller or remote to verify that you are indeed listening to the appropriate audio track.

The PS3 decodes TrueHD and DTS Master Audio internally into Multi-Channel PCM and sends it to your receiver already decoded. Sounds like your PS3 is set correctly (HDMI should be set for LPCM). You can hit your info button on the PS3 to show onscreen what it's decoding...eg should show TrueHD 5.1 or DTS-HD MA 5.1. Hope this helps...and enjoy!

****edit**** looks like WitheyGull beat me to it...thanks!

When the PS3 is decoding your audio and sending it to the receiver as Multichannel LPCM over HDMI, the reading of Multich on the receiver is correct.
