Default First Toshiba HD-DVD just $1,000!

http://www.cnet.com/4520-10602_1-561...html?tag=brand

So the first Toshiba HD-DVD recorder is just $1,000. That's amazingly cheap imo. £600 or less in proper money. About the same rrp as my Pan 85. I thought the first HD/BR hi-def recorders would be £1,000+ even in the States.

There's also a version with HDD that could be as much as 1 Terabyte (1,024GB!). No details on price as of yet. For more info on these players, and of the CES in general, click on the link at the top.

first mass produced dvd was around 1000$ so that's not surprising. I suspect blu ray to be in the same area for pricing at first . There will also be more competition for blu ray since more companies are involved which will cut the price faster.

I'd pay 50 cent for that.
