Hello, i just recently hooked up a ps3 to a samsung lc-52d64u to watch blu-ray movies. Now, my question is, why doesnt my movie look like the movies that were playing at the store.
when i watched the blu-ray (incredible Hulk and Casino Royale) at the store, the picture looked as if there was depth. it looked like the picture almost glided across the screen. it seemed as if i kind of moved around a little more. does anyone know what im talking about and can they explain why my setup does not do this? thanks in advance |

unrelated to the questions but you mean SHARP lc-52d64u right? that model number is a sharp model number? sorry just trying to clarify. anyways yea most of the tvs in the stores have their settings turned way up so they POP out and say "Buy Me!" as well as being calibrated. have your tv calibrated and it should help out a lot.
by the way, it sounds like you were looking at some of the tvs with 120hz processor because of the motion clarity and gliding you mentioned. i dont believe the tv that you purchased has a 120hz processor(correct me if im wrong) so your picture will not have that "gliding" smooth motion feel that you see on the higher end samsungs and sonys. hope this helps. |

Anyway, don't get Motionplus/Motionflow technologies confused with 120hz refresh rates. Motionplus/Motionflow has a big sticky around here somewhere, but since things got moved around I'm not sure where it is. What it does is interpolate frames and attempt to smooth out the action. Some folks like it, some don't. I can tell you that at faster motion scenes, it causes artifacts/macroblocking to show up. What you're seeing is that feature cranked up. If you like it, cool. Your choice. However, realize that's not the natural way these films were meant to be portrayed and that some purists/enthusiasts really don't like the feature. However, 120hz refresh rate can be a very good thing to reduce blurring and to resolve 24 fps sources, like many films. |
