Default Just bought Onkyo TX-SR606

Hey everyone I am excited to say that I just ordered the Onkyo TX-SR606 for $349.00 shipped!! Hopefully I won't be disappointed, did I make the right choice? I am upgrading from an old Kenwood system that didn't even have HDMI. I have a Panasonic BD30 and that thing has been an awesome player so far, haven't had any problems. I am going to use my crappy kenwood speakers till I can get some more speakers, but I dunno what to get. Any suggestions? I've heard the Dayton 5.1 Home Theater Package with 10" Powered Subwoofer is a decent set of speakers for the $$ (only $200.00). My wife won't let me spend 1,000 on speakers... so thats what I am thinking, do you guys have any other recommendations for that price? Do I need a 8", 10" or 12" sub for my room? How do I determine this?? Thanks for your help!

sounds like your on a budget and you cant go wrong with the 606. why is she limiting your speaker budget? maybe you can make a deal and save what she will let you spend and add some tax return money later. patience would be worth it.

No you did not go wrong with the 606, I plan on getting one for my bedroom.

Can you tell us the model of your old sony speakers?

Are you trying to get the same size? maybe get larger or smaller then what you have?

How large of a room will these go in?

Also, what is your budget for the speakers? I know $1000 your not gonna do, but it sounds like that $200 is close.

I know from another Thread the Klipsch Sub-12 is on Sale for $249 right now from Bestbuy. That is one hella of a sub, I loved it soo much I bought two of them and it wasn't at that price at the time.

No offence but you should have gone for the 706. More future proof, and for the money right now it is the best bang for the buck. The 606 is a great unit, but the 706 adds the cherry on top with full 7.1 pre-outs. IMO!
