Default Hard drive space

Since using my playstation 3, my hard drive has quite an amount of data stored on it. I have the 60 gig and out of 55 GB available, I still have 24 GB free which is quite an amount of space. Still the thought of running low on disc space is a thought that is in the back of my mind. With 24 GB free, you can run low on disk space. Many ps3 games such as bioshock and NBA I'm not into. I'm in the habbit of what I call archiving games, which means that when I'm done with certain games, I store them for future use in case I want to come back to them. If I do decide to upgrade my hard drive, I have some questions,

1) What is the maximum size that the ps3 can support? Is it 500 GB?
2) Trophies are saved on Sony's server, so you don't have to worry about any of that?
3) For ps2 game saves, it would be recommended to save the actual file to an external hard drive since the ps3 backup utility doesn't include ps2 game saves. How do you copy a ps2 game save file back where it should be. You create a ps2 memory card and then what?
4) For playstation home, everything is stored again on Sony's servers so other then redownloading all areas of home, your avaitor is still there if you log into home

With 24 GB still free, it's more of a 50/50 chance that I would upgrade my hard drive. There's only a handful of playstation 3 games that I'm watching, two of which are coming out this year, the others are still TBA.

I think you can save ALL save data to a flash drive.

I have a 60gb too and want to swap drives, but i'm worried about doing it because I don't want the YLOD...

When I first read the title of this post, my first thought was it sounds like a sequel to TRON.

went with a 320gb right off the bat. no regrets here. when the 500gb become cheap enough i will put the 320 in a enclosure and use it as a portable HDD.

1. 500 GB is the largest available drive in a SATA formation for 2.5" drives. There's people that say they put a 1 TB as an "internal" drive that they used a modified cable for, so it should be able to handle more then 500 GB.

2. If you log on, then yes they should be saved on Sony's servers once they sync up.

3. The backup utility doesn't handle PS2 games? Uh oh, that's not good! I've got a few saves, but never bothered to check to make sure they made the transition.

4. Don't know a thing about home.

5. You shouldn't have to update the system firmware when you put a new hard drive in unless you didn't update it to begin with.

6. Ignore the childish people.

The backup utility for me, backed up EVERYTHING, it didnt miss one thing. My ps2 game saves are fine.

Home is on both your machine and Sony's. Check your game data utility.

Like I said, everything is done via the backup utility.

And 500gb is the biggest laptop drive so far....

I think that a reasonable option would be if I run low on disk space, say 5 GB, then I'll upgrade my hard drive.

It's not really a problem yet. I'm just thinking down the road.
