Ok, I have an HDMI cable running to a Denon AVR-588 and then out to a projector. Unfortunately, this receiver doesn't do audio through HDMI so until my dad gets another new one, he's gonna have to make do with this one. So I plugged in the standard composite audio cables and it is not giving me any sound.
Is the Panasonic sending the audio signal through the HDMI anyway? How do I have it so it goes through the composite cables into the receiver? Any advice would be wonderful. |

quick look says either use the optical ( no HD codec's ) or change to the sony 55 so you can use the analog also check for settings in the player to send audio out the toslink, not HDMI Last edited by gearyt; 12-31-2008 at 07:26 PM. |

Use an optical cable instead of the analog stereo pair. That will give you 5.1 audio.
On the player, set the two Digital Audio Outputs to Dolby Digital and DTS. In the Denon, assign whatever optical input you are using to the same activity as the HDMI video input. Until you install an optical cable, try the Analog selection on the Denon. (I'm assuming there's a button like that. Most Denons have them. It tells the receiver to use the audio on the analog stereo input.) Last edited by BIslander; 12-31-2008 at 07:28 PM. |

Ok basically what I did when I hooked this up was exchange the upconverting dvd player so the HDMI cable and the analog audio cables never moved. I went into the Panasonic BD35's setup and turned off hdmi audio.
Still no sound. On the AUDIO setup menu of the BD35, I get this: Dolby D/Dolby D +/Dolby TrueHD .... and then an option for Bitstream or PCM DTS/DTS-HD .... and then an option for Bitstream or PCM Then I have BD-Video Secondary Audio "On" Let's forget the optical cable right now though cause I don't have one laying around and I just want to get the analog working first. |
