What about recently released d.v.d.s being re-released?

What will be the situation for d.v.d.s that have been released recently or nearer the time before Blu-Ray is the standard format for releases? Will movies released around this time get transfered to Blu-Ray relatively soon or will we all have to deal with huge sets of discs for serieses as they are as only things released after Blu-Ray hit the market get the treatment? My main interest was in Blu-Ray d.v.d.s was that they would be able to make both t.v. series and movie series into as few discs as possible. I have thought that it was just absured how much space would need to be taken up with collecting such things which is why I have waited on making such purchases.
