Default Vaguely Scientific, HT-Related Question

Is anyone out there ACTUALLY 100% done with their plan? For good? I mean I don't want to say forever, but at LEAST for 5 years? FIVE years. Sixty months. Just curious. Barring any changes in technology, (video or display based)

And don't tell me that you are done, you...you with the Onkyo + Satellites setup,

As the new year dawns upon us - I'll ask it again - IS! Anyone actually complete with their home theater plans?

And don't use your kids or wife as an excuse! Kids can pay for their own college, alright, I did.

Done?? What is this you speak of? I never knew there was an end to a home theater. Seriously, I never think I will ever be done with anything. There will always be something out there that I would want in my room that I don't have.

Done, NO, not at all... it was funny right after christmas my wife said, what do you want next year? She already knows.... I told her I wasn't sure, perhaps new fronts and a center if she was willing to let me spend $800-$1000 for speakers.... she isn't gonna let me get B&W's, too much $$, because I would need an amp & a receiver with a pre/pro plus a new AV rack, or a new 46" Samsung not in a hurry for a new TV though....

Or perhaps I will just get some Sony 6000's or 7000's AND a new 46"???!!!

What speakers are great @ about $300-400 ea and a matching center @ $200??

Certainly not... I believe 2009 will see the complete collapse of my willpower and I too will possess the Beast that should not be named, but referred to by number only - and the number of the Beast is A2-300. And yea, my neighbors will perish...

Er, I mean "Yay! My neighbors will perish!"

Good heavens...people who use the word "done" (other than to say "I'm not done") are not members of forums like this!

I've got several things on the queue:

New HTPC
New speakers
AM-21 attachment for my HR-21 HDDVR (no locals in HD through DirecTV in my area yet)
New router (I'm thinking it's time to step up to wireless-n)
New remote

That's just off the top of my head!

Then we have our master bedroom, which is completely home theater virgin at the moment. I probably won't get too crazy in there, but I will be replacing the flat CRT tube TV (very) soon.

It will never be done. Unfortunately, income this year was far off from last year. I will not be making big changes in 2009, unless a miracle happens. I am adding a second subwoofer this month. I really want to upgrade my Paradigm Monitors to Paradigm Reference speakers and my Sony AVR to something better, even separates, but that will have to wait. I really need a new roof, first, and my wife's truck is getting up in miles.

This "done" word you are speaking, I am unfamiliar with it.

I spent two hours the other night with MS Excel drawing up my next additions to my home theater , creating nice colored lines to connect each of the components with their friends , and arranging them as they would look in whatever equipment rack I buy to fit them in . It.... never.... STOPS!!!!

I guess I can go ahead and put my wish list out there. I'm hoping to upgrade to the 700 level Onkyo and run audio out through a separate amplifier, then perhaps upgrade my front left and right speakers to bigger Kefs. Then I "need" an new universal remote. And my TV is starting to wear a bit. Oh no.... here it goes... again....

DONE!?!?!?!?!? HAHAHAHAHAHA Between this new found addiction and my GTO addiction I will never be done with either. Why must companies continuously make new goodies that I must have for both!!! And why does my company not understand my compulsions and give me raises based on what I need to buy!!!!

"done" is many years off for me, or maybe sooner if the lady gets a job now that her college is done! Being a single income family makes it near impossible for me to splurge at all. This year I will upgrade tv stand, get Onkyo 805 or 875, harmony remote, and probably 20-30 blu's. Sounds depressing as I type all of that, wish there was more....who knows???
