Smile hard disk expansion for Scientific Atlanta PVR

Folks, this is my first post. First of all I would like to thank all of you in this forum. I have learned much from you over the last few months. I've aquired a Samsung 52" LN-T5271F LCD HDTV, a yamaha receiver (HTR 6190) model, Klipsh 12" sub, Klipsch F2 fronts, C2 center and Bose 201 back surrounds. I had an old pair of Koss's lying around and used them for my surrounds. For my first surround system, it sounds amazing... I'll be looking at replacing the Koss's shortly and looking forward to that post. Also the kids are having a blast with the PS3 hooked up to this system. My hookups to the receiver are with HDMI cables...IN >Cable PVR, PS3, Samsung BD 1400, DVR (Polaroid via component cables). OUT>to Samsung TV. Any comments on the setup are welcome.

My question: Is there a hard disk that I can hook up to my PVR ( Rogers: Scientific Atlanta Explorer 8300 HD) via the USB port which will expand the memory for high definition recording? Specific brand name and model number of the portable hard drive may help. If anyone has had any luck doing this I would really like to know.

Best Regards,
Dui

Check with your cable company if the HDD expansion via USB is allowed. If it is, then you're good to go. ANY external USB HDD would work. You can get 1TB pretty cheaply now.

Default Got it working

Just wanted to post that I got this working with a Nexstar3 Case (eSata) and a Western Digital 640 GB Drive tonight. Went from 80% full to 14% full. Sweeeet. Hello, HD recording. Found a forum on digitalhome.ca which was very helpful.

Best Regards,
Dui
