Default sucked into expensive HDMI

yes, I know there are a ton of threads about this, but my question is simple. When I first bought my Plasma and PS3, I went for the 160 dollar monster HDMI cable...now I know better. I will be upgrading my receiver after Xmas, and will not fall for the same gimick, but I'm wondering, since I have the "expensive" cable already, and will be going for cheaper with my upgrade, doesn it matter where I put the Monster cable? ie: does it matter if I run it from the PS3 to receiver, or from receiver to plasma, or won't make a difference either way. Maybe someone is similar in my situation and has tested both, I don't have the chance to do that yet. Thanks!!!

It won't matter where you use it. I have a more expensive cable with all my cheapos and can't tell a difference. They pretty much all work the same.

Well you'll hear most people tell you that an inexpensive one is just as good, and judging from you answer on here you believe it too, so I think you answered your own question.

If you believe that they are the same quality then it doesn't matter where you put it.

LOL. It's not what one "believes", it's a proven FACT. If one believes they see a difference between inexpensive cables and grossly overpriced cables, then that individual is fooling themselves and see what they want to see. That's fine, as long as they don't try to convince others of their delusions.

If you get a new receiver with TrueHD and DTS uncompressed audio codecs than you want to use a HDMI 3 capable cable that will pass the codecs from your player to the receiver. You can use a cheap cable between the receiver and the TV though.

If I were you, I would sell it and let someone else fool themselves. Then with the money you get back, buy a cheap hdmi and a blu-ray movie (depending how much you get back)

What are you talking about? There is no such thing as an HDMI 3 cable. If you are refering to version 1.3 cable, there is also no such thing. HDMI versions apply to the devices, not the cables. Any category 2 cable will work just fine for any connection.

Excellent advice! You can probably get some Monster fanboy to buy your $160 cable for at least $100. With that, you can buy a couple Monoprice cables and several BDs to enjoy.

What I find funny is that department stores try this smae tactic, get customers to buy the more expensive cable. I REALLY pissed off a employye one time at our local boscov's store, I was simply watching the TV's and over heard a customer asking about the monster cable's (price was like $150+) Th employee told her that cheap onmes would degrade the qaulity, I simply coudn't resist and interupted the conversion, and said that you can buy a cheap cable off the interent (ebay) and save money the cables are the same your paying for the name. The look I got from the guy was priceless. Needless to say the guy simply said he's get the TV but not the cable looked at me and said thank you very much. I walked away laughing . MAN if loooks could kill

neos, did the same thing a couple weeks back at Best Buy to a guy and his wife who were staring at the back of a box. I could almost read what was going through his mind. I told him what I knew, and whether he bought it or not, I'll never know. Funny thing about all of this, when I bought my Panny and PS3, I was the one who convinced myself I needed the cable, not the sales person. Had I done my reading ahead of time, I would have made out better. So that REALLY makes me a sucker I guess. PLOWMANJOE, not sure how to take your comment, I'm assuming you support Monster? Hey, wanna buy a cable?

take it as sarcasm. you shouldn't have to believe in a cable as was mentioned earlier in this thread. it either improves or it doesn't, no believing involved.
