i don't know how to get into my tv's service menu. also i don't think i'd mess with it anyways. i think it has the potential to do more harm than good.

if you screw up something in the sevice menu it can void your warranty not to mention have a severe affect on your tv.

i would not recommend it dude. hit one wrong thing and your tv will be screwed up royally! You will void your warranty and the manufacturer will refuse to repair it. Not even worth going in there!

DO NOT TOUCH...if you are not a train professional for this....its can throw all you TV settings out of wack...

I would only mess around with it if you absolutely know what you are doing. But the best and most accurate calibrations almost always require going into the service menu.

i had a friend who went into the service menu of his sammy lcd and the first option was HDMI calibration! Him thinking he was smart, hit enter on that thinking he could improve his pic quality, it completely threw out the calibration of all of the tv setttings! Grey Scales, red, green and blue balances you name it, the tv was toast!

I done a lot of research on it and found the test pattern that sammy repair centers use to re calibrate the HDMI....it was basically a 9x9 black and white checkerboard. I got the tv to where it was watchable once again but the pic quality was never right after that!

Never Ever, Ever go into the service menu unless you have a clue about what you are doing. Yes this is my second post saying the same thing, i just want to make sure, along with everyone else here, that you don't make your tv a huge paper weight!

very good advice, can anything go wrong if I simply want to see the service menu, and learn about the functions, the example you mention tells us all don't touch anything unless you KNOW what you're doing, TBH the idea of a service menu never occurred to me until this thread, though I hear the PS3 has a similar menu.

i know on my tv, you can make changes. but you have to push certain keys to flash (perma change) the settings.

this sort of thing is when avs is a great source to check out

more than likely tho, you should stay out of the service menu

if you think you can go in and not change anything then you will be okay but i still would not recommend it. Research everything about the service menu before you even enter it, there are usually lots of thread about this kind of thing for specific tv models over on the avs forums, but proceed with caution
