Default Insignia Blu-ray player @ Best Buy $99!!

http://www.bestbuy.ca/catalog/prodde...59&catid=25174

Might be a nice late gift for someone?

Didn't think we'd see sub-$100 players this year, especially not in Canada!

already gone... I plan on buying a standalone within a month or so. Think I'll try to stick with Samsung or Sony, but at this price... wow would have been nice =)

So lol? A Toyota uses a Lexus engine? I mean c'mon...its only a $100 more to get a really good Blu-ray player. What is a $100 more these days? Nothing...

The bad:
No onboard decoding for multichannel Dolby TrueHD and DTS-HD Master Audio; subpar image quality on Blu-ray Discs in standard 1080p mode; lacks Profile 2.0 support; no Ethernet jack for firmware upgrades; pedestrian design.

And on the performance end, videophiles will be a little disappointed with the Blu-ray image quality, although we were pleasantly surprised by its standard DVD performance

Default Insignia Blu-Ray Profile 1.1

I bought the Insignia Blu-Ray player at Best Buy this week. It does indeed have the ethernet and USB ports on the back. They are labeled "for future use". I imagine firm ware updates can be made via the discs or via USB. It is currently Profile 1.1 enabled.

I have it routed through the Onkyo receiver via HDMI for audio, then to the TV with the pass through HDMI. Audio sounds great on the Onkyo TX-SR606. So far, no issues.

For the money, it's a great unit and appears to be upgradeable.
