Yup, home entertainment growth will be big because of the economic woes. People want a way to escape and take their mind off things...enter Blu-Ray

Sir Howard's speech will be interesting. It will touch on the difficulties that the CE industry is going to face over the next 5 years and how they will have to adapt their strategies to cope.

I firmly believe that CES 2009 will be the last one with major technological progression shown for the next 5-7 years...

Is this because of the economic problems facing the world for a while?

Yes, as the total spend on electronics decreases, R&D will decrease as well. It means less cool stuff for me and you to buy.

Wow, you actually will have to be seated at less than 3 feet to notice the difference between that and 1080p

I guess on the bright side, it's good the format war ended when it did. I'd think the format war would be very, very bad if still going on right now.

Just about the same difference between 1080I vs. 1080P

Yeah but 1080p bring 24fps to the game and less 'Reinterlacing Error'. Also it doesn't flicker witch is great if you have a HTPC and use the full resolution

Geez....Toshiba sure doesn't know when to stop.

When are they gonna stop peddling the "Refried" crap known as DVD? This is getting very old and they're coming across as some greedy bastards.

I was an HD DVD supporter in the beginning, but since then I have converted to Blu-ray disc considering that with the Warner switch, to have HD home entertainment, BD was the way to go.

DVD is outdated and obsolete. Quit trying to polish a turd (DVD) and make it more pleasing to the eye with this "Super Up-Conversion" and "XDE" mess. Most of us are smarter than that, but there is a sucker born everyday.

I may work for a Toshiba owned company, but enough is enough. They are taking this crap to a new level and the war is over. Blu-ray won! Get with the program and start making quality Blu-ray players for us Toshiba customers to buy.
