Default Nuts-athon

What's the purpose of those buyathons? Backing the individual prefered HD solution. Showing the industry with pure sales figures which format has the greater demand to get one dominant and single standard.
But what happens now? Each party buys every crap industry produces just to boost sales figures. What do we tell industry bosses with it? Keep the format war burning, keep the blind buying armies marching...

I honestly have no idea if this thread is for or against the buy-athons. *scratches head*

Keeping "the format war burning" is what happens if we don't come together and make the widest gap possible between the two formats. By buying an additional disc that we would not of normally purchased, we are speeding up this process.

We must think about the whole (the big picture if you will). Selfish people can't help end the format war as quickly as selfless people can (think Borg ). Please be selfless and join in with us on May 27 buy-a-thon.

I would think that at least certain "industry bosses" would want an end to the war - BD (or HDud for that matter)-exclusive studios, for one - they're currently missing out on the buying sprees of the opposing camp. Sony (duh) and M$ (maybe, a draw might still benefit them), the competition might force them to lower prices (and profit margins) earlier than they would want, in an effort to defeat the opposing camp (helllooooo, walmart). retailers (how much shelf space should we devote to which format? how much of what titles do we carry if another "buying spree" occurs? which camp is buying?

TC, buy-a-thon sales are nothing compared to a revenue generated from a singular format. All blu-ray and HD-DVD bosses want one format to win...theirs. Along the way, buy-a-thons are nice, but again they'd much rather have their format win out.
