PowerDVD 8 Ultra and Dark Knight Problem - Blu-ray Forum

Does anyone have a problem with PowerDVD 8 Ultra shutting down when it starts playing a Blu-ray? I don't normally have problems but when I try to load The Dark Knight it shuts down after Aero is disabled, right when the disc starts playing. I am using Vista 64-bit.

I tried disabling the Aero-off feature in the registry as my computer is powerful enough to run with Aero on. It worked, but it still shuts down. Sometimes I can get it to work if I restart the computer, or if I switch to the 32-bit Vista. I've always been able to play The Dark Knight with no problems, it's so random that it won't work.

What video card are you using? It was perfect with my 8800GT, but since I upgraded to GTX 295, this happened everytime until they released a patch. But now for some reason, the patch is pulled out from site. You've to wait.

I have an EVGA 8800 GT. Are you talking about a patch for PowerDVD, or for the video card?

PowerDVD. Was released on Feb. 2, but now it's pulled out.

You're on latest drivers though, right? How about sound card? 8800 GT never gave me any problems, and I have tested it with Dark Knight.

Yea I have the version that was pulled. Maybe I can try installing the previous version. I just tried reinstalling and now it won't even activate. Says I don't have administrative rights, yet I am the admin and I have full rights to it.

Works now. I could not downgrade so I had to download a torrent version and use my activation key. All is good now.

I just tried The Dark Knight and it works. Plus, I got to sample Dolby TrueHD 2.0 over my 2.1 PC speakers. If that can blow me away, I can't wait to get my receiver and speakers hooked up!
