I think you are already hearing DTS-HD and True-HD audio, but are unaware of it because you don't see them lit on your receiver. Thats because its being decoded in the PS3 and sent as linear PCM. To verify if you are in fact hearing the High def audio, press "display" on your ps3 remote and check the audio on top. And make sure you select one of those audio format from the Blu-ray movie's setup menu. Hope this helps.

Also, no you do not need a v 1.3 hdmi cable if the audio is being decoded in the player. The PS3 cannot bitstream these formats.

What he said above..

Just posting to say I have PS3 and Denon 1909 as well and I have no problems with any audios.. I just hit select button on the PS3 Remote and it shows the audio codec I am listening to.. sometimes movies start with a crappy Dobly Digital so I have to hit the pop up menu and change it to the lossless form. It is a good idea to get into the habit of hitting the select button when you first start watching a movie to make sure it is playing the GOOD audio.

The 1909 will just say MultiChannel Input however so you can go off the receiver's display.

Don't be puzzle if Dolby Digital is sometime louder, HD sound is more clearer and dynamic.
