Exclamation New BD-Players at CES?

What can we expect at CES?

New Pioneer, two new Panasonic, Denon, new Sharp, Daewoo, Funai, Samsung BD-P1600, new Sony and more?

You can add Mitsubishi 3D, Leowe and maybe Onkyo to that list.

I'd rather see a Toshiba on that list, even though I would never buy one.

Leowe
Is out here in Germany for longer time! That would not be a big announcement...
Is only a newly packed Sharp and the player is not so great (only profile 1.1).

Hopefully more new BD players at CES and no new dual-format!

Sony BDP-S500.
Click on the disc at the top of the screen. http://www.sony.com/ces/index.html
Built in LPCM, Dolby True HD, and DTS HD decoding. 24P true cinema output.
I just noticed that this is in stock at many retailers, perhaps it's been out a while and I just never noticed. I have a PS3 that I couldn't be more satisfied with and haven't kept up with stand-alone news.

I tell you what, if Toshiba would release a Blu-ray player now, then that would be a helluva way to sway those supporting HD DVD now to come join the Blu side.

We've seen that for the longest time now, and I think it's time for JVC to give us a hard release date for that player. For supposedly being one of the major supporters of Blu-ray, I sure haven't seen much support from them in the last 2 years.

Albeit, I've been hearing about some corporate restructuring within the company, but that shouldn't be an excuse for not getting into the game.

I hope Toshiba has a Blu-ray player to bring to CES.

BECAUSE
You don't usually bring obsolete hardware to a show like this.

In all seriousness, I don't think Toshiba is ready to admit defeat anytime soon. I mean just look at the WB announcement, it totally caught them off guard. I don't think we'll see a Toshiba Blu-ray player until at least CES 2009 or maybe even a little bit beyond that.

I think the prices should be coming down soon on the players. If it hits the Magic number of 199 - HD is completely done, that much quicker.

Well this confirms Pioneer will have a player at CES.
Question is which one the higher or lower one first?
