Are you someone who needs it all?
Will you buy a movie just to have all that is needed to complete a series?

Sometimes, but not with any degree of consistency. Depends in part it is based upon if I liked some of the films in the series very much as well as the comments and reviews of others for films that I have not seen.

I answered "Sometimes Yes, Sometimes No" even though I consider myself a completist.

But that's only the case of things like the Terminator series and stuff. Like I won't buy The Butterfly Effect 2 because I know it'll suck.
Although I did buy 8MM 2 not knowing what it'd be like and haven't watched it yet. Just bought it to have it.

If I get famous enough one day to be on MTV cribs, I will buy every Blu-Ray available to showcase. But unless that happens, I'll only buy what I like. No need to buy what I probably will never watch.

It really depends. Some series I can live without completing such as Star Trek(I have II, III, IV, and VI on DVD) and Naked Gun(I have 1 and 2 1/2). Others like Star Wars I have all of them.

And then there are those where I have no choice like Batman, The Godfather, or Austin Powers and I'm required to buy the entire series.

I buy the good ones.

Someday,when available I will buy:
X-men 1 and 2. not 3.
Pirates of The Caribbean 1, not 2 or 3.
Alien and Aliens, not 3 and 4.
Rocky 1 , 2 and Rocky Balboa , not 3,4, or 5.
Star Wars, The Empire Strikes Back, and Return of the Jedi, not the prequels. Halloween 1 and 2, not 3-?.
Night of the Living Dead, Day of the Dead, and Dawn of The Dead, not the newest 2.
The original Indiana Jones trilogy, not the Crystal Skull.

Already bought Matrix, not the sequels
Casino Royale, no other Bond movie( I'll rent them, not buy)

Not in the sense that I buy something just for the sake of buying it. I will buy what I will watch again.

I bought the Day of the Dead remake. I'll let that speak for itself.

Yes and no, like some others that have posted. It really depends on the series and wether I will watch it again.

Yes, for the most part. For example, I purchased Nightwatch and everywhere Daywatch was getting trashed. I purchased Daywatch to complete the series, and really enjoyed the movie...more than the first.

interesting thread, i like

i used to buy complete sets on dvd (i.e. if i bought one movie in a trilogy i'd buy them all). now i feel that's a waste and i only buy movies that i truly like and will rewatch.

Yes and no because while I would get the whole Star Wars series if it comes out on Blu. I would only get Batman and Batman Returns maybe even Batman Forever but not Batman & Robin.

I'm a completest in the sense that I like to have the whole series of movies I like. So far, I haven't come across a series with an installment I hate so much I don't want to own.

X-Men 3 was weaker than the other two movies, but it's part of the story arc from them, and therefore IMO worth having along with them. Same with the final two Matrix movies.

Agree 100% Why waste money.
Hate to say on DVD I have the Rocky set, Alien Quadroligy, All Dirty Harry's, X-men 1-3, Pirates 1-3.
I HAVE BEEN SAVED. Seen the error of my ways. Praise Blu-ray and their high prices and the bad economy. As my collection as my witness, I will never waste money on my movie collection again.
Also have American Pie 1-3 on DVD Why?

I answered sometimes yes, sometimes no--

there are many series that I would buy all the movies on blu-ray--
STAR WARS, INDIANA JONES, JAMES BOND, ALIENS, LETHAL WEAPON, etc

however there is no way I would buy JAWS 3 and 4 on blu-ray once they
come out.....

I wouldn't buy a movie I don't like just to complete a set. For example, I've never bought Alien Resurrection, although I have the first three Alien films. For me, the series ended when Ripley died at the end of Alien 3. Having her come back as a clone was just ludicrous, even for Hollywood.
