Default My Days as an OCD Completist are numbered......A True Story.

Upcoming Steelbooks:

Region A (FS Exclusive)
12 Disney SBs (English)
12 Disney SBs (French)
1 Transformers
More mentionned but not confirmed yet.

Region B
18 Mediamarkt and more possible releases.
Not to mention the tons from a lot of countries!

FS and MM alone will release at the very least 42 SBs by the end of the year!
I'm pretty sure I'll have over 200 differents Blu-Ray Steelbooks by the year's end!

Being an OCD isn't funny anymore, a whole more complicated than it use to be... Even when I was catching up on the releases I used to miss!

The struggles continue.

Cheers,
Gui.

I'm with you Gui I think I latched on to this whole thing quicker than I was ready financially. Although I was buying 2 at a time for the trade idea I realized that my love for the collecting was far to high than the financial means. I figure get the hard ones now and then play treasure hunter later. Sometimes the hunt is more enjoyable than the buy.(Somebody here said that once) Figure it is a good and safe plan.

Yeah I remember that line...
The hunt is definitely more fun but with the whole bunch of Steelbooks announced it's a though job!
When I started invading the countries I did it one whole country at the time, I started with Germany and finished with France, but during that long hunt my intention was clear. GET THEM ALL!
Starting with really HTF OOPs then keeps the easier for the end. If someone here starts to hunt to get them all it's just almost not possible!

I will change my way of collecting in 2010 for sure I can keep up buying multiples identicals SBs anymore if they still releases as much as they do now!

Anyway I'll get every Steelbooks sealed released between 2007 and 2009 and be missing only 2. I guess the hunt still continues!

- Final Fantasy VII: ACC (Taiwan, with UPC)
- Sweeney Todd (UK, play.com exclusive with booklet)

I think all that struggle was done in vain since I can't figure how am I gonna get these 2...
3 people ordered FF VII (Taiwan) for me, they were all sealed but none had a UPC sticker...
And I realized about the other Sweeney Todd a few months ago and only one person have pictures of it... On a German forum I believe.

Get them all I must!

Cheers,
Gui.

Unfortunately I think that little part is already gone, it is called FUN. When I started not so long ago it was fun, but now every release is almost dreaded as it is just to much. Yes, when FS did not announce a Wolverine steelbook I was a little disappointed as I thought it would be great to have, but I cam honestly say that when I read the title of this thread the first word out of my mouth started with an F and rhymed with puck.

On top of all that, it is not even a hunt anymore.

See new release ....... send e-mail ........ wait for release day ........ wait for package ......... add to collection

Agreed Gui. I am enjoying the hunt for the Taiwan and Sweeney Todd but just looking at the probable 50 steelbooks that will have to be bought between now and the end of the year is really making me cringe.

The time up to now has been a blast and unfortunately I do not think that either of us will ever see that fun anymore. As I mentioned above, you and I have built a solid worldwide network where we can acquire just about anything pretty much whenever we want it. Obviously there are exceptions to this, but for the most part it is true.

I think the best thing that I will take away from all this at the beginning of 2010, is all of the great people that I have meet this year. The people that have helped me out, the people that have helped to keep it real, and the people who I can see in my rearview mirror, or at least their stripes anyway, who have made it competetive, but on an uber friendly, super OCD completist level.......

Cheers and thanks
CrashKelly

Hey there Kynch,

Absolutely not my friend. You are for sure one of the good things that will be taken away from all of this. Steelbooks are just things, but friends are, well friends

Hey, I'm still excited. It helps when you give up collecting multiple copies of same SteelBooks.

Jesus I forgot Phil ducked out first kinda. God how frigging depressing. Kinda sounds like your saying goodbye there Michael.
Xradman I agree with you kinda. For me it started out to buy 2. One for trading and the other for keeps, but financially it sucks to hold onto one until someone comes along either looking or having something you want.
I do agree with Crash on networking though. Since I have joined this forum I have been able to meet a great group of people who for God sakes are just here to help each other.....That's kinda sick in a good way.
Thanks to that I am now kinda able to only buy 1 of each steel....unless I want to open it up and drool inside.
I do want to thank you guys for it all. Sorry off topic...back on
I will buy the Wolverine steel only unless the MM version cover is bad a$$

Oh no, I am not going anywhere

Just going to quit the completist, must have them all, buying trend. While the current release schedule and volume does have some to do with Christmas, I do not think we have seen the last of this type of volume by a long shot.

I was a blast when they were here and there and you got a break inbetween. Now they are just fast and furious, no pun intended, and way too many same cover multi-country.

Okay, enough whining, still got 3 months of collecting to get done

Cheers

May be I'm being a bit of a devil's advocate here, but wouldn't your 2010 purchasing motto sort of make your pre-2010 steelbook collection lose its meaning/purpose. I mean why be a completist pre-2010 then? Are you going to sell those steels with the same cover and keep just one so that you have a uniform pattern throughout? or just move along with an incomplete collection? if it's the latter I believe you are going to get a letter from OCD headquarters on January 2 asking you to turn in your badge...

That's a resolution between me and Crash, we will get every singles released SBs. We'll just stop buying all them identical Steels like T2, FF VII and all the 24 incoming Disney SBs from FS. We ain't dropping the towel but getting our feet back on Earth.

Cheers,
Gui.
