Default PSP question before buying one

do psp's suooprt divx and xvid from any media devices and also do psp's have a video out of any sort or video in and audio out like ac3 and such

DivX/xvid - no.
Analog Video out - yes, on the PSP-2000 (slim) model. Needs an extra proprietary cable, S-Video or component I think are the options.
Video in - no.
Analog Audio out - yes.
Analog Audio in - yes.

I think the 2000 refers to the entire SLIM PSP line. Not sure if one was ever actually model number 2000. My PSP is also model # 2001 on the box....I think.

Divx/Xvid can be used if you install custom firmware on you PSP.

There are converters available for download/purchase to change divx/avi files to compatible video for the PSP (much like re-encoding for I-Pod).

Yeah, you can easily convert XVID/DIVX to standard PSP MP4 format. There are utilities out there for that.
