Default The Notebook Discussion Thread

Just read Ken's first review for Blu-ray.com 'The Notebook.'

It's been a while since I last seen the movie, but now I want to buy it, lol. Great review Ken

EDIT: Wow, I'm so far behind.... I missed his 'Wedding Crashers' review my bad.

EDIT2: And 'Crash'

Thats not his first review, he also reviewed wedding crashes.

As usual WB messes up another movie, edge enhancement has been used. i really hate that damn studio. watch what they do with lord of the rings, couldn't somebody else take over new line.

I was excited about the review until I read about the edge enhancement problems. Because of the encode problems, I am going to take a pass on The Notebook. By the way, I am not too crazy about the giftset packaging either.

I would think so, WB doesn't usually lock catalog titles. Just don't take that as a yes, if I had a copy I could tell you fore sure, but I don't

EDIT: I just looked at DVDAF and they say it's free

If I were to get it, I'd just wait a couple more weeks and get the UK release for £10.

Good review by the way, I like the actors.

I was planning on getting this thing, but hearing it doesn't have a normal case inside the box makes me want to steer clear. I really don't understand why they would fail to deliver a standard release on this film, particularly when the extra materials in this special release probably cost more to produce than a standard BD package (and is priced similarly to normally packaged BDs).

I've been hearing conflicting reports of whether the UK release will be region free? Can anyone confirm?

I really don't want the gift set.

I was planning on getting this for my wife for her birthday, but that will not fit nicely with my Blu-ray collection. So I'll have to pass on it.

Just the size of it. Thankfully the reviewer posted a pic of everything it came with. If he didn't then I'd probably still be getting it.

Who would buy this thing? I mean it's loaded with mickey mouse crap! Ya...I saw the movie...It was "decent" when you want to get close with a woman. But that's about it. Maybe WB is trying to appeal to the female market?

And I thought Casablanca box set was overdoing it.

is it worth getting the limited edition gift set, or is it better to wait for a standard blu-ray release?

Who knows when a standard release will be, probably not for awhile. I have this preordered for me and my wife. Great movie.

Is the UK release in a gift set too, or is it a regular release?

I preordered this from Warner Home Video but canceled it when I learned just how big the case was. It looks huge, and would have to be stored separately. They should have offered a standard edition without all the fluff. I personally don't need stickers and a scrapbook.

I would pick this up because I like the movie, but I don't need it badly enough to pick it up with all that crap. So I'll wait. It's a limited edition, supposedly, so hopefully it will be extremely limited.

I don't know, but it's only £9.99 on AMZ.uk which when converted equals $14.54 + shipping

I hate when I read this. Why stop yourself from the pleasure of having a film you love in your Blu-ray library? Because the case is bigger than other Blu-rays? That is an asinine reason not to get it. Who cares if some of the other cases aren't the same size? I sure don't! Get the movies you love on Blu-ray!
