Lightbulb Movies needing a directors RE-cut.

Ok, say what you will about Spider-Man 3. I waited my whole life for a Spidey flick with Sand Man and am not about to discard this one. HOWEVER... At 2:15 long it had a lot of stupidity and fluff.

I firmly believe a good 15 minute trim, or more, would make this movie a LOT more watchable. Please get rid of that bar dance scene. If Sony re-cut this one, I would gladly double dip and pretend the original #3 never existed.

The first 2 are very livable, in my humble opinion. I say leave them.

If they cut down time then it would have been too short to contain 3 villains. They needed to expand on the characters more.

The Venom storyline ended WAY TOO FAST.

So making the movie longer with pointless character building (aka assasination) makes the movie better? Maybe they have some extended scenes with the bad guys they can paste in. Still, the nonsense needs to be cut to make this a more serious movie.

Super Hero fans want serious movies, not gay fan boy-ism. I was very happy with Iron Man and even happier with The Dark Knight.

i agree with ckent, if anything the storylines were far too rushed and pointless. fleshing them out more, especially venoms, would have given them more purpose.

also, be careful with your terminology on this forum. it doesnt offend me, but it can offend others. just some words to the wise

I'm the only one that liked Spider-Man 3.

Except for the part where he put on eyeliner, put down his hair, and did those crotch thrusts. [shudder]

I love the Troy's DC, but I think the ending should more reflect the novel. Helen goes back to Sparta, Andromache marries a Greek man, Hector's son dies, Agamemnon dies in the bath killed by his cheating wife as opposed to Bersius in Troy.

Oldboy is probably my favorite movie of the last ten years. I still believe it could have been leaner and meaner and 10- 15 minutes shorter.
Another film I saw recently was Across the Universe. I thought it had it's charm, but it overstayed it's welcome by 20 minutes. It must be hard to put so much into a movie and then have to trim it down.

This thread should be re-titled "Movies I wish I Had Edited Myself". I've never seen so much Monday-morning quarterbacking in all my life.

I'd appreciate a Spidey 3 recut that drastically reduced the crying and eliminated the street walk and bar scene. Amp that up with more Sandman and Venom character development and it could help. If your main character is going to sob let it be at the end of Spidey 3, not every half hour between scenes of acting like a geeky punk.

A X-Men 3 recut with a new musical score would also be nice. The first time I watched that movie I had big issues with scene transitions and the musical timing. Some of the most awful scenes could also use some work. Frankly the trailer was 100x better than the movie, they can use that as a model.

TDK doesn't need a Director's Cut but if they made one I'd appreciate some fixes to a few of the bad scene transitions (landing on the car, driving through the mall). Any meaningful scene additions would be a bonus, if they have some gems in hiding.

American Gangster - almost everything with Russel Crowe's character
Pathology - the annoying sex scenes... ok maybe keep a little with Alyssa Milano
Angela - the nudity... I know it wasn't sexual but it still seemed exploitive and didn't add to the movie

I wouldn't change a single thing about Old Boy.

I'd be happier if they reordered some of the scenes. I hated how the culmination of his transformation and rage was him b*tchslapping the girl while he had potentially killed two people prior to that. He thought he had killed sandman. And he had thrown an explosive right at harry's face. He never did check to see if he wa alive. So he's okay with killing people but not slapping a girl. Guess that was the last straw right there.

Yes. And replacing the scene in Magneto's camp where Jean Grey takes apart the gun with the alternate scene where she takes apart the cup would be great.

Did you see the Helen of Troy mini-series that was on USA about the same time that Troy was released in theaters? It did have that part in it. He had sacrificed their daughter to the gods to get wind for his attack fleet. It was a great scene near the end of the movie. She shows up while he's in the bath with a couple of other women, who he quickly dismisses.

Agamemnon: What are you doing here?
Wife: I came for my daughter.
Agamemnon: (cautiously) . . . She's not here.
Wife: I know.

And then she pounces on him and carves him up with a knife.

Another added bonus to that mini-series was seeing the nude scenes with Sienna Guillory as Helen.
