Default Director's Cuts vs. Extended Cuts vs. Theatrical Cuts

Which movies have you seen alternate cuts of that you preferred over the theatrical? Or vice versa? Any movies you wish there was an alternate cut for?

I for one definitely believe Blade Runner and Dark City to have phenomenal directors cuts that are far superior to the theatrical versions, and I'm guessing most people will agree with me on the former

Daredevil, the Director's cut is far and above better than the theatrical. Even with Affleck in it.

Exactly, what Benny said. Also, all the curse words (that were originally filmed but were dubbed over because Fox wanted a PG-13 rating) were put back in.

I had gotten the same deal at Walmart. I had previously purchased the DVD, have yet to watch the Blu-ray version and never saw the theatrical version, so I can not comment.

The best movies I've seen that REALLY helped from the extended cuts were The Lord of the Rings trilogy & Kingdom of Heaven. The EE of Gladiator wasn't needed, even though I do prefer it as I just love the added scene in which Commodus (sp?) has those 2 guys executed.

Yeah the Director's for Blade and Dark are great but nothing beats the extended 3 hour long cut of Dune.

Mallrats Director's cut is way too long. Much prefer the theatrical.

Aliens and Abyss Director's cuts add a lot of extra detail that make the movies even better IMO.

Highlander II DC almost turned it into a good film

I never saw LOTR Theatrical, just the extended cuts...but Kingdom of Heaven is a masterpiece in it's director's cut form.

Definitely the Butterfly Effect. Theatrical cut was utterly worthless. The ending completely disregarded everything that happened before it. But the director's cut was an axcellent movie. I'm glad that was the version that I saw first.

Now for movies that I wish had an alternate cut. One would be The Game. I really hated the ending of that. Pretty much everything to do with it seemed unbelievable. It only takes a couple of seconds of wondering if any of that could be possible that you come to the conclusion that none of it could. At least that's the conclusion I came to. Maybe one day I'll watch it again to see the exact make up of the roof and the glass he crashed through (I swear I saw girders). And for any professional company to put someone in the frame of mind to kill themselves and provide them with a gun is highly improbable. Yes his psych evaluation said he jump from the roof but there's still the chance. His brother "died" by his hand (gun) so he might've thought to do the same. Blanks can kill.

Now my second choice is probably one only I would wish for: Cyborg. A bit of a guilty pleasure. I grew up on that movie. Now its definitely not anywhere near as good now as it was when I was younger. I still enjoy it but I suppose if I watched it now for the first time I might not. One thing with it is its jerky editing. Its looks like a movie that was edited for tv (blood and violence edited out). But that's the way it is. And I've read that there is no extra footage to edit in for a director's cut.

If it has a Director's Cut, I can assure you that I'll enjoy that version more... no matter what the film.
