Okay..I am fairly amatuerish at all this.....
Anyways...I put in the movie Crimson Tide and set it to play 5.1 uncompressed (PCM I think). I have a Sony 550 blu ray and a Sony STR-DA2100ES reciever. When I go to play the movie my reciever sets to Pro-Logic. It is playing 5.1...but in ProLogic. Why would that be? (Sorry for the stupid question) |

I suspect the output mode of the 550 is doing something odd. What is it set to? |

does your receiver have an HDMI port? If not then you need to set it up so that you have the analog outs(multi-channel outs) on the back of the 550 connected to the multi-channel inputs on the back of the 2100ES. Then you want your audio setup in the BDP set to analog out, not HDMI or Optical/Coaxial, and the DD THD and DTS HD MA set to Mix, not direct. Your BDP will decode the HD audios and send it out to your receiver over the analogs.

We're not talking about everyone. We're talking about the OP.
