Default what's up with netflix not carrying lots of bds?

They don't carry Dodgeball even though it was released in early December. I wish their bd collection was as expansive as their dvd collection... they seem to be no longer carrying some dvd titles as well. Still better than bb.

I double checked and though it won't say on the page with the movie, when you add it to the queue it will go to the saved section (even though it says "in queue") and have release date "unknown"

Thats odd. I tried it as well and came up with unknown. Good thing they charge that extra buck.

I think maybe it's cuz the DVD version is PG-13 apparently and the BD is unrated so netflix thinks the BD hasn't been released yet. I hope it's just so they can save money and buy it later rather than some kind of systemic glitch in their inventory system.

netflix needs to realize that for both bds and dvds their wide selection is what's going to attract customers. I wouldn't mind if they don't have things right on release date but over a month for Dodgeball is unacceptable ... not to mention like several months for To Kill A King ... I have no interest in that title, but even just having the option to rent it makes me more satisfied.

Netflix is very good with Blu-ray support. If anything, I wish they would carry more of each title so that the wait would not be so long.

I see that too. I would contact Netflix and ask them what is up with this title.

Netflix has nearly all Blu-ray titles available for the US market. I have only found 2 titles so far that they don't carry yet.

The only thing is you may have to wait in your queue for new releases. But that's OK since I don't have to watch New Release the first day they become available.

Netflix is the reason that I am able to watch Blu-ray on the cheap since I can't afford to buy them. I can only rent. They have great collection in which you can rent for less than $1 a pop, a very good deal.

I'm starting to get PO'd by Netflix due to the fact that they just don't have enough of the new releases on Blu-ray, so we all have to wait a LONG time. I was shocked that I FINALLY got the Mummy 3 in today. I thought it would take forever. On the DVD side, Netflix has never let me down, but they really need to ramp up their inventory on the Blu side. Why are we even paying that extra $1 when they can't do that? Too bad I'll have to postpone my account for a few months due to my workload and school load. Taking 3 upper-division biology classes and a physics class makes it even better . I'm almost done with school though, that's the good thing.

Everyone in this thread's confirmed that Dodgeball get an "Unknown" release date when added to queue. Same thing happens with Constantine. It's definitely more than just a couple. I remember also they didn't have To Kil A King for like ages until a couple months or so ago.

For DVDs they no longer carry ... well let me preface this by saying I'm not religious, not that there's anything wrong with that -- I just enjoy spiritual themed movies and apocalyptic movies -- anyway, they used to carry Left Behind World at War but now it shows up as "Saved"

For some bizarre reason for BDs, lots of times it will show up as "add to queue" and "in queue" even though it gets added to the Saved section, often with "Unknown" for a release date.

I don't mind if they wait to get a new release. I just want them to slowly but surely make their BD collection include all titles just as their DVD collection once aspired to do ... that was what drew me to netflix over bb, their selection

I got Appaloosa, My Best Friends Girl, and Swing Vote yesterday in the mail from Netflix. I've never had a problem that wasn't because of my own doing....adding a movie after the release date.

I get new releases on release day every week, also.

That typically happens when their copies have been damaged and the title is out of print from the manufacturer who reissue their catalog titles on strange schedules.

Case in point... I rented Alfred Hitchcock's "Rebecca" 3 years ago from Netflix and recently got a hankering to see it again. When I went to that movie, it went to the "Saved" queue. The reason for that was that Criterion had made the disc that I had seen and hasn't re-printed it since. The last copy Netflix had eventually got damaged and was unrentable. The one thing about Netflix is that they won't claim to send you a movie they don't have. My only peeve with them is that occasionally a movie at the top of my queue says available "now" and they send something further down the line. Not necessarily on new releases. Weird!

I kicked Netflix and BB online as well as video stores to the curb. Done with it. I buy the Blu-rays I want and Vudu the rest.

The extra $1 charge for BD rentals seems to be paying off.

Problem with only buying (without voodoo) is with the number of movies I'd end up wanting eventually to see -- ten thousand or so -- I wouldn't have space to store them all. I wonder if anyone has moved into a bigger place just to store movies lol.
