Default Redbox carrying Blu?

I dont know if my redbox was being lazy but for The Forbidden Kingdom..the box art was the blu ray art. Had the blu box with the Blu ray logo at the top...and the silver lines that had the 1080p high definition saying!

Could be just them being lazy....

Anyone else find this out?

sorry if this was already posted.. I did a search before posting this thread.

i sent them an email asking if they would carry blu-ray's and this is the reply I got. I just inquired last week. We have a box at my job & it would be so handy.
Hello,

Hello, thank you for your e-mail. Although those are very high quality formats, currently, Redbox does not support Blu-Ray or HD-DVD. This is not to say we will not go down this route in the near future, but as of right now Redbox will continue to rent standard issued DVDs. You can always visit or website at www.redbox.com for updates regarding this issue.
If you have any other questions or concerns, feel free to contact us by phone or e-mail.

Thank you,
Raquel

I know this thread is about a month old, but I seen a redbox location where I live that says it has blu ray too. And it wasn't just a movie on the screen, it had an actual sign that say's "now carrying blu ray". It doesn't show it online or anything though. Hopefully more will start having them. And it was still only $1 to rent it

Red Box is really great for newer mainstream releases, but i guess there's only so many titles they can fit in that box.

i agree as we rent some from this and for $1 a night you cant go wrong. while i have not rented anything in the last 3-4 weeks from our redbox, i cant say i have seen anything about blu ray movies to rent. but now you have me curious, so i will check out mine probably tomorrow night.

one downfall to redbox is that you really have to check out the disc before putting it in your player, cause alot of them are beat up and scratched.

Redbox has really taken off in the past year.

Them now having Blu-ray is a great move in the right direction.

It seems to me though that the vast majority of people do not know what Blu-ray is. I envision a lot of people getting very frustrated because they get Blus from a redbox, take 'em home, and then wonder why it won't play.

Not sure if anyone heard about this but redbox is sued universal studios - universal was trying to make it so that Redbox could not put any of their dvds or blu-rays in a vending machine until 45 days after their release date.

And Universal said it will stop supplying any product to Redbox's 2 distributors Ingram and Video Product Distr. if they continue to sell any Universal product to Redbox.....
