I know it's hard -- maybe even impossible, but try to pick one.

I picked adventure, but I don't know if there is much of a difference between it and action.

First, I just have to respectfully disagree with that notion as any film from any genre can feature awesome performances and I personally don't see one genre having more than another.

Secondly, to me it all comes down to the script as sure, actors can act the hell out of it (just as directors can direct the hell out of it etc.) but if there is no at least solid screenplay there to begin with, the movie is already a failure. We go to movies for stories and if the story isn't good why will it matter if any of the acting is?

Also, by the by, it doesn't look like you actually voted on the poll...

I voted SciFi. But, SciFi Action would be my preference if I could vote for 2.

oh I know any genre can deliever great performances, I mean when was the last time there was a performance like Heaths in a blockbuster popcorn flick? I sure as hell dont know but it proves that even that type of film can deliever top notch acting. it just seems to me that drama delievers more solid acting roles as of lately than any other.

Well I don't really think so. Have you ever seen Julie Andrews in Mary Poppins? She became the character, she was Mary Poppins and she also got the Oscar for that performance. It all come's down to the "team". A movie will become a classic and offer great entertaiment if the director, the actors, the writters, the prop makers, the costumers.....(you get the idea) put their heart into their work and care about what they are doing. It won't matter if it's a comedy, a musical, a drama or any other type of movie.

I took cinema classes in college and I so hated this mentality from so many teachers and students that only serious drama actors and movies are to be taken seriously. Any type of movie can offer great acting performances.

The last part come's down to taste. Now what I think you might have wanted to say with your post is that your personal taste in movies angle toward the drama and as such you feel you will have a better chance of liking a movie from that type then other types.
