Kurosawa Box Set on Feb 6?? - Blu-ray Forum

Anybody know anything about this? You can preorder it from YESASIA.com and I see it contains 4 titles and is region A. But I can't seem to get any information specific to each title. And at $195.99 I would like to know EXACTLY what I'm getting.

I recall reading that there are no English subtitles...

The set does not include Seven Samurai, if that's what you're wondering. I will look up the exact titles. One of our reviewers found out from YesAsia that these will not have English subtitles.

Is that possible? I don't understand what the point is of producing any non-English film if it doesn't have English subtitles. You're cutting yourself out of an enormous segment of your potential market.

Edit: the titles are Rashomon, Ran, Madadayo, and The Quiet Duel (Shizukanaru Ketto).

The box set is for Japan, and Japan only. That's why it doesn't have English subtitles

Criterion worked with Toei on the new HD masters, and they will be used for the domestic release down the line
