Is it me or do actual playing-the-game in-race shots of this look pretty bad? Back when Microsoft announced the game they promised 60fps, 4x AA, fullscreen motion blur, HDR lighting, self shadowing cars, 3D grass and probably some other lovely things like full-framerate environment mapping on the car bodies.

Microsoft seem to be releasing mainly replay shots to the gaming press as they're blurred to buggery, focus on the cars not the track and hide many of the above issues. Those pics don't look as good as the GT HD demo I downloaded for the PS3. The one thing they've got to get right on the new GT is the sounds of the car, because in the other games they all sound like crap. A Corvette and a BMW should sound nothing alike.

Funny thing is, it is ok for MS to do this yet Sony gets blasted all the time for things MS does just as often. |

GT5 FTW! No way Forza 2 is going to be able to take that game down. GTHD already looks better than Forza 2.

GT5 4 months ago looks alot better than Forza 2 now IMO. I'm biased though, as GT is one of my favs. But in all non-biased honesty, I don't see what Forza 2 has that GT5 doesn't.

The game looks awful on those screenshots to be quite honest with you. GT HD does look better. But are these screenshots of Forza 2 the final product. I know for fact Forza 2 will have crash damage. That's the only major difference from Forza 2 and GT HD demo. Forza 2 might have 300+ cars, but expect GT5 to have at least 800+ cars. I won't even doubt it will have 1000 cars.

The demo has to be coming out soon and we will see then. While Forza has damage it has never done a good job of it. Its poorly done. The game is physicsless. And heres the kicker there are only 12 different environments with 60 configurations. That is going to get really boring. Hope they have fun putting Homer Simpson on their cool custom cars cause thats all this game is going to be good for....yeah like thats realistic.

Keep in mind that GT HD isn't a fully finished product, either.

I think the biggest debate between Forza 2 and GT 5 would be all about "damage".
This was the reason why people picked Forza 1 over GT 4 (despite the latter having HD mode of 1080i) simply because of it. I'm hoping that this time around, Polyphony Digital would have thought about the implementation of the "damage" feature so they can please the majority of racing game fans/players. Do that and GT 5 will reign supreme over Forza 2. P.S. Although I personally would turn the damage feature "OFF" ![]() |

The cars look like empty shells compared to GT HD's, lots of smaller things like the lights (glass coverings) not looking as detailed but the thing that stands out most is the shine finish looks more plastic than polished metal. The general apperance of the track is sortof 'gamey' bright yet flatly lit beyond the track surface and angular. Whack on GT HD straight afterwards and you'll be blown away by how much richer and actually more realistic it looks. |
