Default transferring photos takes an age

Copying some photos over to my PS3 using a 2Gb USB stick, it starts off nice and quick but gets to 20% then takes nearly an hour to transfer one photo! What the hell is that all about?

Any clues? Is it better to burn the photos to CD and import them that way?

Something is wrong there. I use 1 and 2 gig sticks to put photo's I use for wallpapers. Transfer instantly. Although with the new photo slideshow we got in the last firmware update I will probably put more on. Much more convienent than having people com into the room to look at my pc.

Don't you have the PS3 setup on the network? Set your PC up as a media server and just copy them to your PS3 over the network without having to worry about any type of storage device transfer.

Sometimes when I copy stuff from a media storage it shoots across to 90% in a second, then it takes 5 seconds to do the last 10% of the file. It doesn't really bother me much though.

copying pics with SD, CF, and MSD jump drive shuodln't take more than a few seconds for a few hundred pics.

although it takes significantly longer when done thruogh USB for me prolly about a minute or 2.

use the card reader under the flap of the PS3, it'll whiz by so fast, you won't have time to pick your nose in front of the TV.

Something like that happened to me.But later on it started to freeze when the copying reached the 90's ,and later on it stopped copying photos altogether .

But when i updated the FW (2.50) there was a message like "UPDATING UR DATABASE" and it reseted all the filing i've done on photos ,music and videos. After that everything was ok .

What happened was that some of the photo files were sort of corrupt ,When you use the "all" regrouping choice to open the photo files and go down to the last ones you will find photos that wont open (or worse ) wont delete .

Hmm, I've since tried a CD but after an hour it still hadn't shown the progress bar so I gave up. No trying an external hard drive and it shot up to 20% (61 photos out of 950) but has spent over 4 hours transferring photo 62!! Its now at 99% and I'm hoping once it gets past that it will resume normal speed.

It must be a PS3 issue though as I've tried 3 different formats now. Weird and very annoying

I'll see how this goes but maybe try a pro duo stick under the flap too
