Trophies are tied to your PSN account, not just your PS3. Just make sure to sync all your trophies with the PlayStation Network by viewing a player profile or your trophy list in the full XMB while connected online.

Sign into your PSN account on the new PS3 and your trophy progression will get pulled back down.

Is your PS3 connected to the internet and do you have a PlayStation Network account?

When you're signed onto the PSN, just click your name on the far right bar of the XMB, or just click compare trophies with a friend, or just click the trophy icon on the XMB under the games tab. Those methods will sync your trophies with the server.

If you press triangle on View Trophies under Game in the XMB, there should be an option "Sync with server".

Do that, and as Shin-ra said you will automatically pull them down from the server on your new PS3 when you go to view them.

Trophy progress is stored only on your PS3 until you synchronise it with the PSN server. Once that's done your progress can be pulled back down and viewed with whichever PS3 you're logged into that PSN account with.

Yes, as long as you sync'd all the trophies with PSN on the old PS3 first.

I'll break it down in a simple step-by-step guide:

- start up your current PS3 and log in with your main PSN account
- select the tropy icon (under the games tab)
- if you have earned any trophies recently, it should show a bar with % progression, saying "syncing your trophies"
- now, start your new PS3 and log into your main PSN account again (you'll have to re-enter your username and password of course)
- again, select under the games tab the trophy icon. It should again show a % progression bar with the text "syncing your trophies"
- you're done, all your trophies are on your new PS3

Would I be correct in assuming that the trophies that show up in my portable id are from the last times I sync'd? I know I got some other trophies between what is showing on that and when my PS3 died because I didn't sync, but it wasn't that many so I'm not that bothered.

he clearly wants the simplest answer... if he didnt understand shins first post than tell him the truth how he wants to hear it... your trophies are not saved on your ps3, there saved on a server (in your case a magical place far away that us ps3 users cant touch see alter in anyway) once you buy your new ps3 sign in with your old credentials... click trophies and your trophies will be sent to your new ps3 from the server
