Default Silent Night, Deadly Night - New Reboot

‘Silent Night, Deadly Night’: Slasher Franchise Coming Back to Life With Brand New Movie!

Quote:
The 1984 holiday horror classic Silent Night, Deadly Night, controversial at the time of its release due its depiction of an axe-wielding killer dressed as Santa Claus, spawned four sequels and more recently a remake back in 2012, and today we’ve learned out of the ongoing EFM that a brand spankin’ new reboot of the slasher franchise is currently in development.

Deadine reports that the new take on the franchise is coming courtesy of Orwo Studios and Black Hanger Studios. The site notes, “Orwo is beginning sales at the virtual EFM.”

Scott Schneid and Dennis Whitehead, who produced the original Silent Night, Deadly Night, are back on board as producers for Wonderwheel Entertainment.

Wonderwheel’s Schneid and Whitehead said in a statement shared by Deadline today, “The continued desire for horror content and the ongoing success of the genre meant it was the perfect time to be able to offer up this chilling revival of the iconic title.”

The original Silent Night, Deadly Night was directed by Charles E. Sellier Jr., starring Robert Brian Wilson as Billy, who witnessed his parents get murdered by a killer dressed as Santa when he was a kid. All grown up, Billy puts on a Santa suit and goes on a killing spree of his own. The so-bad-it’s-good sequel followed Ricky (Eric Freeman), the younger brother of Billy.

As for the sequels, they increasingly had very little to do with the original storyline or even the Christmas holiday at all, with part three starring Bill Moseley as Ricky, part four centered on a cult of witches, and part five starring Mickey Rooney (who famously trashed the original Silent Night, Deadly Night) as an evil toymaker responsible for a series of gruesome deaths.

The 2012 version of the original movie was simply titled Silent Night, directed by Steven C. Miller and mostly telling its own story altogether about a killer dressed up as Santa.

No word yet on the approach for this reboot, or the creative team involved. Stay tuned.

Silent Night, Deadly Night – Rohan Campbell Plays Billy in Slasher Reboot

Quote:
The naughty will be punished in Cineverse and Bloody Disgusting’s upcoming Silent Night, Deadly Night, a brand new vision for the fan favorite slasher franchise from the 1980s.

Bloody Disgusting can exclusively report this afternoon that Rohan Campbell, who memorably played Corey Cunningham in David Gordon Green’s Halloween Ends, has been cast in the iconic role of Billy Chapman for our upcoming Silent Night, Deadly Night reboot!

In addition to Halloween Ends, Rohan Campbell also starred in Osgood Perkins’ The Monkey earlier this year, with the young actor’s genre credits including “Snowpiercer,” “iZombie,” and “Supernatural.” Campbell steps into a role previously played by Robert Brian Wilson in the original Silent Night, Deadly Night, who donned the bloody Santa suit back in the 1980s.

He's honestly perfect casting for this. He's plays the type quite well. I loved him in Ends. Go Rohan!

Ruby Modine Added to ‘Silent Night, Deadly Night’ Reboot

Quote:
We announced yesterday that Rohan Campbell (Halloween Ends, The Monkey) will be playing iconic slasher Billy Chapman in the upcoming Silent Night, Deadly Night reboot from Bloody Disgusting, Cineverse, and director Mike P. Nelson (Wrong Turn, V/H/S/85), and today we’ve got some more exclusive casting news to whet your appetite for the holiday horror.

Bloody Disgusting can exclusively report this afternoon that Ruby Modine (Happy Death Day) will be playing Pamela in Silent Night, Deadly Night, alongside Rohan Campbell’s Billy!

In addition to playing Lori Spengler in both Happy Death Day and its sequel Happy Death Day 2U, Ruby Modine also starred in 2019’s Satanic Panic and 2023’s Fear. Outside the horror genre, Modine’s credits include “Shameless,” American Desert, and The Survivalist.

Terrifier franchise backer Cineverse has announced the start of production for its reimagining of cult Santa slasher movie Silent Night, Deadly Night in Winnipeg, Manitoba.

The production has unveiled a first image of Rohan Campbell (The Hardy Boys, Halloween Ends) in the role of protagonist Billy Chapman, who goes on a killing spree dressed in a Santa suit.

He is joined in the cast by Ruby Modine as Pamela, a colleague on whom Chapman develops an unrequited crush, as well as newly announced casting additions Mark Acheson, David Lawrence Brown, and David Tomlinson.

The movie, which is being sold outside of North America by Studiocanal’s new genre label Sixth Dimension, is scheduled to release in the U.S. in time for Christmas 2025 on December 12.

I truly wish this was being filmed in actual cold weather. The original SNDN certainly has its flaws, but the atmosphere isn't one of them.

As long as they don't use that awful blue filter like Silent Night (2012)...
