I've been mulling over DLing this from the PSN. I'm an RPG lover for sure. Will this be worth my while?

I think so(alot of characters), number 2 is a pretty awesome old school JRPG too!

Yeah, 108 playable i think... I saw some reviews on 2 and they were good but i couldn't find much on 1...

I bought Suikoden off the PSN, and it holds up to this day IMHO. I'm really enjoying it (although admittedly I'm playing it on PSP so the graphics are probably easier to live with.)

Yes...love this game, I was replaying through them shortly before it came out on the PSN, I'm about 3/4 the way through Suikoden II now, I've never played III-V...

I still have a prestine copy of it for PS1! It is one of my favorites, up there with FF3(SNES)! Collecting all 108 stars is one thing but puttign them together in groups for special attacks is something special to behold. Man did you set off a nostalgia bomo there.

Yep.. I played it long time ago and beat and now I purchased it off of psn and replaying it.

The party uses a 6 man team 3 front 3 back.
There are 3 attack ranges Short, Medium, Long
Short can only attack if there in the front row
Medium can attack from either front or back row
Long can attack from either front or back row but
have low defense and will generally die quickly.

Every turn of battle you make a decision on what
each character is going to do, once yourve decided,
that turn of battle then commences characters may
strike at or similar times based on there speed.

Suggestion: Find the main characters teacher he has
a sick combo attack with the man character....
-Attack all enemies at double damage both rows...
-sick..

You have alot of characters in your army and you
will have to figure out which character combination
works best...

makes certain combinations more potent.

I suggest to have Cleo in your party, as she will be your
magical heavy hitter, if you remeber to give her that
crystal.

yeah I played them and enjoyed them as well.. I found it interesting II is a collectible now.. I could easily sell my copy of II for $50 or so even today..

I am not a big role playing game guy either, enjoyed i and II of this series (3 and 4 where not soo good).

Suikoden 1 and 2 are by far the best in the series (5 is pretty good too). I'd go so far as to list Suikoden 1 and 2 in my Top 5 PS1 games of all time (along with MGS, Xenogears and Final Fantasy Tactics).

Some say 2 is the best in the series, but I actually think 1 is (for its time). Anyway, you can't go wrong with either.

Basically, download it right now!

Hopefully they'll start putting more ps1 games on the psn. I know the japan store has tons don't they?

Neither did 95% of Playstation owners at the time. It was totally overshadowed by FF7. Most people started with Suikoden 2 which is another reason that game seems to be the one that gets the most fanfare.

yeah, they get like 5 every update. We're lucky to get more than 1 a month! I think it has to do with domestic liscensing agreements and such though.

Well when FFVII came out that was the only game I thought of for atleast 2 months.
