There's a Logan's Run remake coming at some point in the next few years. They're undoubtedly holding it back for that

Oh great, yet another Hollywood cop-out. Hey Hollywood, less remakes and more original movies, please!

Oh, and the writers of Logan's Run obviously had HD DVD in mind: your hand turn red when it's time to die (err, go to Carnival), and Logan keeps telling the Duddites "There is no Sanctuary". :-)

i am sorry your not happy, but this makes me happy as i loved this movie growing up and still love it today. i would like to give the remake a chance atleast.

i mean they are making all kinds of remakes, atleast this one is cool and with the fx they have today it should be good.

I loved it too (I also have the DVD). I just wished Hollywood would come up with less remakes and more original stuff.

Sweeeeeeeet!!!! I can't wait for this i liked the old one but the new one should be out of this world with how much effects have improved over the years. i hope they make it kind of edgy.. in feeling but crisp and sharp in image.

I am usually in the less remakes camp, but this is a serious exception. I love the original movie. Grew up watching it at least once a year on KCOP and then enjoyed it more when I saw it on HBO unedited. That said, it was a great sci fi movie and a very poor adaptation of the book. I hope those remaking it stay much closer to the books. What would have been impossible to achieve in the '70s should be a cake walk today.

Just a few of the key differences for those who never read the book. Lastday was at the end of your 21st year, not your 29th.

The culture was not one big domed city, but a whole complex of domed cities with habitable, but very wild and dangerous open wilderness between.

The Carousel thing was an invention of the movie, in the book, you went to a DS or Deep Sleep center, and went out in a way more like the suicide ceremony in Soylent Green.

There are a lot more differences, but those are some of the biggest ones. Like I said the movie was great, but a remake closer to the book would be grand. I really would like to see the chase scene on rocket like devices that were named something like witch sticks or something like that because they were like riding a rocket powered broomstick.

On a side note, if you look around on eBay, you can find functional replicas of the Sandman gun from the movie and buy your own replicas of the hand flowers in each color. Haven't seen any blinking ones though.

The remake keeps getting pushed back. I would LOVE to see this movie get cleaned up. I mean it will never be a 5/5 pq movie but my DVD has all kinds of artifacts.. I am not even sure how much of that is repairable!

Bryan Singer was originally doing the remake, and he was going to stick closer to the book (though Carousel was probably non-neogitiable)

Who knows where it's at at this point

The fact that many classic and not-so-classic movies are getting modern treatments in great numbers nowadays just demonstrates how stagnant Hollywood has gotten. Originality is nothing but a distant memory. How sad.

I actually think that keeping Carousel would be the better way to go. The quiet dignified sendoff of DS worked for Soylent Green as a one shot event with Edward G Robinson's character, but it just doesn't work as well for the demonstration of the horrors of requiring everyone to check out at a certain age. The Carousel idea kind of brought that one home with a bang.
As I understand it Singer was hard at work on this project when some problems popped up, by the time whatever the issues were got worked out he was working on Superman Returns. I hope he remains on the project.

Too true. I really think remaking should be reserved for very specific cases where there is something that can be added or achieved that the original did not have. Even in those rare cases, I think the original should always be respected.

To me things really started getting out of hand when someone decided it would be a good idea to remake Hitchcock films. That is just plain a crime.
