How is this setup

I plan on purchasing polk audio 70's, polk audio 30's for rear, polk cs2 for center, and a Onkyo TX SR606 for my receiver. I have a left over sub from my old one, and we'll see how that meshes with it.

First off, will that setup be pretty good?

Second, I read the blue ray player to get is still the ps3, is that correct? I was hoping for something a little smaller if possible, but the ps3 will work just find if I need to get it.

I know hdmi cables are all the same basically, but what about speaker cable? Should I get the thicker stuff or keep with the cheaper stuff?

Now, if that setup is all good, then how many hdmi cables will I need? One going from ps3 to receiver? I also run a hi def dvr from direct tv, i am not sure what it is called.

The TV i am looking into has i think 3 or 4 hdmi slots.
