Default HDMI and Component

I've been lurking in your forums and have come away with a lot of info. Thanks for the great site. I've been having a tough time figuring out which players will send 1080p via HDMI and 1080i via Component at the same time. Our installs usually include a component video matrix switch.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

The Samsung 2500/2550 can if HDMI is set to 1080p/60.
If it set to 1080P/24 them the component output might be either 480i or 1080i depending on the disk.

Thanks Bootman....

Do you think this should be part of the comparison chart? I think this is a very important feature and would make a big difference to many applications/installations. Watching a movie on my 1080p set in my family room, Pause and continue watching it on my 1080i set in my bedroom. We're using matrix switches more and more and a bluray having the ability to output 1080p via HDMI to my receiver and 1080i component to my matrix switch is very important.

The Sony BDP-S350 will also do the same, but you have to set it up correctly first (easy process). If the output video format is set to HDMI, it will lock out component and composite output. However, if output video format is set to component, HDMI will still work.

I know this because I took my 350 to a family member's house who has an older 1080i RPTV that allows component input. Naturally, for my use, I had the unit's video set at HDMI. I couldn't get ANY signal to demonstrate the player on their TV! Next time I went over, I made sure to set it to component, and it worked beautifully on their 1080i set.

To be honest, no.
99% of users would not care.
Professional installers would however, but this isn't a site that is really geared towards them.
(think more of the PS3 crowd)

Unfortunately if you choose Component then it will be at 1080i over HDMI. I'm looking for the best of both worlds.
