Default How to Maximize Bass for In-Wall Speakers?

I am building out a 7.1 HT space and chose Infinity ERS HV250 in-walls for my side- and rear-surround speakers because they closely match my RS5 fronts and center channel.

I built a little test frame enclosure to see how they would sound and I think they are weak in bass. Is there any way to maximize the bass for an in-wall enclosure? Should I use insulation in the cavity? Leave it empty? Use a wider stud-bay? Any other thoughts?

TIA.

I use backboxes called Dynabox for my in-ceiling speakers that have worked very well. Dynamat also makes a product called En-Wall that might work for you: http://www.dynamat.com/products_arch...l_en_wall.html

Check with the manufacturer to see what they recommend. They might be designed for "free air"/infinite baffle installation or perhaps you can put them in an enclosure, maybe it says in the owners manual ??? You can try some rockwool insulation in the wall cavity to help.

You may have some phase cancellation issues or placement issues ??? Typically in-walls do not produce strong bass or any speaker with small woofer(s) but it depends on the speaker though and in-walls can be trickier.

I have a pair of in-walls that I use for surround back channels but they can provide a nice "little" kick when in seven ch stereo mode. I also have some rockwool insulation above and below the speaker as well.
