Default Help needed with UPS : Brokerage & clearing fees

Recently shipped a steelbook to Canada valued at 35 USD. I put a total value of 50 usd ( 35 + 15 ground shipping charges to canada ).
Today I recieve an email from the UPS there will be an additional charge of 3 dollars for duty and 32 (thirty two) for brokerage and clearance fees. None of these were ever mentioned to me. What should I do any suggestions.

Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

Thank you

How did you claim the steelbook on the customs paper?
Merchandise or gift? I would try call UPS and tell them its a gift, so you might be able to get around some of those fees.

You don't have to declare shipping costs. Shipping costs aren't part of the value of the item. Also, you should have declared it under $20 as a DVD as a gift.

Or if you dont want to "lie", ship it USPS first class next time. They charge the receiver I believe. If USPS loses your order, your out $35 either way (by paying $35 in brokerage fees by UPS.)

I learned the same lesson trying to ship across the border with UPS. They're crooks. I paid shipping and duties and still had to come up with an outrageous "brokerage" fee that was never mentioned until the guy showed up at my door. They're never getting another cent of my money again.
