Default Wireless router: do I have to run it through a PC?

Here's my deal. I have a wireless router right now with a PC that's about to bite it. We want to ditch the PC but keep the wireless going, so our new laptop can continue to access it, Wii can, etc.

If I unplug the PC, won't it stop working?

nope. every wireless router ive had has never been econnected to a PC, laptop, anything. you should be good

(it's recommended, but not necessary, to have it directly connected to one computer in case the wireless goes AWOL and you need to get into the config)

Great, thanks!

(If it goes AWOL, can't I just connect my laptop to it via direct connection to access config?)

Wouldn't that defeat the purpose of wireless if you had to keep it hooked up to the PC?

You don't need any form of PC for a wireless router to work. The router hooks directly to your modem and the signal is sent from there. You can use it for any non PC item there. If you have problems with it, then you can directly connect a laptop to it to access the configuration files, or you can set it to allow wireless signals for configuration (not recommended) and edit it from a PS3 or any other thing with a browser. So don't worry about disconnecting the PC.
