Default Cheap 5.1 HT

First off, I'm going to say that I'm new to blu-ray. I don't know if home theater is the right wording, but I'm looking for a 5.1 set-up.

Could someone provide a recommendation on any budget HDMI home theater combos, or packages. Roughly around 500$ and under. Just something that works and decent quality for its price.

The HDTV's in a bit of a smaller room, if that would effect the type or size of speakers to get.

Just something that would give me the best "bang for my buck".

Thanks in advance.

I'm by no means an expert, but these come highly recommended:

Pick your cables up here: www.Monoprice.com

Hope this helps!

I can second this recommendation. This is the exact setup that I have, and it sounds great in my small apartment. I really don't think you can beat it for ~$500. It is easily upgradable to 7.1, if you decide you want to go that route in the future.

I have the same speakers, and "similar" Receiver, but will be upgrading in the future to the 606 or above -- and my "theater" room is Not large at all, about 11'x13' and the speakers work fine. Just Recently I upgraded the Sub to the PSW10 (won off Ebay, great deal - $70 + $30 freight), and it def. is an Upgrade. The one with the RM6750 is decent enough but i've seen a lot of people with the same system who eventually upgrade to the PSW10 or something similar/larger to an extent. And i've read so much about the Monoprice cables that i'll prob. get them when I need to buy any in the future.

For the $500 you want to spend, the RM6750 you can prob. find for Under $300---look around, you will prob. get it for $200-250 maybe. Then you can get the Receiver you want for the rest and be all set! Good luck.

$200--250 -- the prices range there I found. Yes I clicked, but some places have Tax, some don't. BB prob. does, NEWEGG doesn't usually, etc.
