Unhappy Ice Age 2: Meltdown...Only 25GB single disc

Why would they only use a single layer disc? Seems they could get so much more quality with the standard 50GB dual layer...

The movie is only 90 minutes long. Doesn't need to be 50GB disc

The biggest reason it's on a 25GB disc though is because it came out in November 2006 - back when 50GB were hard to come by

And yes, it does look great

I have both Ice Age movies and the PQ/AQ is excellent on both. The special features are very lacking though. Fox didn't transfer most of the extras from the 2-disc DVDs.

I agree, it looks and sounds great, so there is absolutely no reason to complain.

Was more a query rather then a complaint...

I agree the movie looks stunning... Was just curious thats all.

more space doesn't always mean better PQ/AQ ... if its only 20-24gb when putting that on a 50gb disc will give you nothing in quality

But if there was an encode of the movie again for a 50GB compression the quality would increase right?

I have both 1 and 2.

I really love #1 and am so-so on #2.

However PQ/AQ on 1 is excellent and on #2 is mind-boggling good.

I think they don't have much in the way of special features but I could be wrong on that point.

IMO 50G is overkill, you can fit an entire 2h blu-ray movie on a DVD-9 and it still looks amazing. some people are even shrinking them down to 4.7G DVD's

Learn to read please... It wasn't a complaint, just curious as why they didn't go BD50.

And bajor27 already explained it for me.

I agree it looks amazing, but being new with BD I was simply curious.
