is rise against, supposed to rage against, if so just call it RATM. sounds like you'd like most anything played on a decent rock radio station. you should stream DC101.

No, it's Rise Against. One of their biggest songs was on "Need for Speed: Underground 2"... the one with Brooke Burke.

Hey OP, if that's the kind of stuff you like, try The Fratellis (Specifically, Flathead, and Henrietta) The Almost, Flogging Molly or Dropkick Murphys (if you like Irish rock)

Never really listened to Dream Theater, but I've heard positive things about them.

As for VH, HELL YES!!! The VH concert that I went to about a year and a half ago is still the best one I've ever been to, and I am only 22. Everyone there was older than me and the lady, but it was off the hook.

And what can I say? Great minds think alike. lol

After reading through all the posts, I think I know maybe a handfull of the bands that were mentioned...but it's all good! I mention this because music (regardless of which generation you belong) is magical and gives the listener tremendous pleasure.

I am 55 yrs old and find myself listening to stuff from every generation. Right now I'm going back in time and rediscovering artists like Frank Sinatra and the like, because it was something my Dad always played. I would never have thought of buying anything old-school like that 20 yrs ago.

The point I suppose I'm making is this....don't just look for new bands! There is so much great stuff out there for you to experience.

In the meantime...enjoy your music whatever you chose to listen to!

John

I understand. By the way, I'm a huge prog rock fan...so if you hear of any newer bands that fit that genre, let me know.

Dream Theater is the epitome of prog rock. Been around since 86 but gained recognition around 91.
