Remote Play

So, forgive me if this has been covered, but I'm a little green on the whole Remote Play feature of the PSP with the PS3.

I think I understand that it allows you to access your videos, music, and pictures that are on your PS3 through your PSP, but is this only within WIFI range. I mean, can I basically only use this within my house? If so, that doesn't seem very useful. Why wouldn't I just access it direcetly off the PS3.

Or, as I'm hoping, can I be somewhere far from home and as long as I have my PSP and someone's WIFI signal, I have access to the stuff on my PS3. That would be pretty cool.

If that's the case, I need to weasel my work into getting some WIFI. LOL.

And... does anyone have any idea what plans might be in store for how HOME and other games might be using the PSP in the future.

Connecting to your PS3 with Remote Play can be done from anywhere in the world, as long as you leave your PS3 in Remote Play mode and have access to a wifi connection. i was recently visiting family in another city and i was able to connect to my PS3 with my PSP and was able to download all the new trailers off the PS store. although it was very very slow because the wifi connection i was using was on a dial up internet connection.
