Default Planet Terror and Death Proof ?

The DVD's are both two DVD affairs!!! I could be wrong but only the Planet Terror Blu seems to get the 2 disc treatment, and Death Proof only gets one,is that true or are the BOTH 2 disc sets!? I'm confused a bit! Somebody help me out here!!!

"2 disc" sets don't really mean much when comparing DVD's to Blu-rays. There is usually ample space on a single Blu-ray for lots of features. The 2-disc thing is often just a marketing thing making people feel like they are getting more.

Death Proof Blu-ray extras (from the review on this site):

Quote:
Death Proof arrives on Blu-ray sporting a laundry list of supplemental features. Here's what's included:

-"Stunts on Wheels: The Legendary Drivers of Death Proof"
-Introducing Zoe Bell
-Kurt Russell as Stuntman Mike
-Finding Quentin's Gals
-The Uncut Version of "Baby It's You"
-The Guys of Death Proof
-Quentin's Greatest Collaborator: Editor Sally Menke
-Double Dare Trailer
-International Trailer
-Poster Gallery
Planet Terror Blu-ray features:

Quote:
Planet Terror arrives on Blu-ray with a bevy of special features. As is normally the case with Robert Rodriguez’s films, he was personally involved in the creation of the set’s extras and you’ll find him featured in just about every one.

Here’s what’s included:

-Scratch-Free Version of Planet Terror
-Feature commentary with Robert Rodriguez
-Audience reaction track
-10 minute film school: Planet Terror: hosted by Robert Rodriguez
-”The Badass Babes of Planet Terror”
-“The Guys of Planet Terror”
-Casting Rebel
-“Sickos, Bullets, and Explosions: The Stunts of Planet Terror”
-“The Friend, the Doctor, and the Real Estate Agent “
-International trailer
I have no idea how these compare to any DVD version. I'm pretty sure the only reason that Planet Terror is 2 discs is because there are 2 versions of the main movie encoded separately (the normal one and the "Scratch Free" version). This 2nd version takes up 16GB of space.

Death Prood = 1 blu-ray disc
Planet Terror = 2 blu-ray discs

The only reason for 2 discs, as stated above, is because of the two transfers on disc one for Planet Terror. Otherwise, all the extras would have easily fit on one disc, just like the Death Proof blu-ray.

You will likely see A LOT of old 2-DVD sets issued on only one blu-ray disc, since there is more room for extras. Especially if those extras are standard def and don't take up a lot of space.

!!!!!! Excellent! I was thinking we'd be stuck with that zillion-dollar Japanese DVD box set forever.

Both of these movies are very good. After your done watching them you might want to check out some other films from the Grindhouse days.

I know that Vanishing Point is coming out on Blu-ray in 2 weeks - that might be an interesting one to get.

+2

I saw it on Showtime HD a couple months ago in its theatrical version (with faux trailers) and it brought a tear to my eye.

Believe me, I watch that stuff aaaaall the time.

I don't know about 'Planet Terror,' but 'Death Proof' is frankly a lot worse in the extended version, if that's the only way you've seen it. In 'Grindhouse' they're both things of beauty.
