Default Grindhouse: Death Proof or Planet Terror?

Haven't seen Planet Terror yet, but really want to and by the looks of it I think I'll love it.

Both great movies...in my opinion Death Proof has better dialog which is typical with a Tarantino flick, yet Planet Terror is more action packed. I just hope we can get the full movie released on blu, with the trailers included.

Death Proof was insufferable

They needed to cut out the first 45min of pointless neverending dialog that went nowhere

Death Proof has a great soundtrack and i love Kirk Douglas as Stuntman Mike, but i just had alot more fun watching Planet Terror. I think if Death Proof would've been the first feature then it might've worked a little better. Hard to follow the craziness/campiness of Planet Terror. Like others here, I hope they release the whole Grindhouse experience on Bluray.

Planet Terror had more of a grindhouse feel to it (a woman with an assault rifle-leg?)... I think Tarantino eventually forgot he was paying homage to grindhouse and just made a typical suspense picture with Deathproof.

Plus Planet Terror seemed to have more spots and tears in the film reel, giving more of an authentic feel to it. There were long stretches in Deathproof where the picture just looked normal and clear.

I think Death Proof is a 70's exploitation type movie. Whereas Planet Terror's madness is rooted in 80's type cheese.
One's basically a car chase/badass chick flick and the other a zombie movie on steroids. Seems perfect Grindhouse material to me. The first half of Deathproof definitely has more "flaws" than the second half, but i think more would've been overkill. You seen one cigarette burn, you seen 'em all.

Honestly, both had their good points, so its hard to say which I enjoyed more.

I know that Death Proof had its problems (almost totally due to the dialogue) but to me it just wasn't an issue. I'm fascinated with conversation and just listening to people talk (I'm sick, I know). And have you ever really listened to people talk? That just ramble on about the most inane tripe you ever heard, so to me, it kinda seemed real. TO ME (I stress this), I just loved it. The car-chase at the end was just plain awesome. Nuff said.

Planet Terror was just plain fun. You have zombies, gore, Bruce Willis, Rose McGowan (sans and WITH a machine gun for a leg)... just an awesome popcorn flick. And then you have these...

Planet Terror was waay better IMO. Tarrantino tried to get way to clever for his own good and put about twice as much dialogue into the movie than he really needed. The last half of that movie completely dragged for me and I was actually excited when it finally ended.

I need more than just action in a movie...Death Proof was right on the money...nothing overly great, but I liked it a lot..

I think 'Death Proof' was the superior flick. Planet Terror was just way too over the top, just like every RR movie made with the exception of 'Sin City' IMO.

I may be in the minority but I think Rodriguez is overrated. His movies are fun but laughable. Maybe thats what he's going for and i just don't get the joke??

thoroughly enjoyed the entire grindhouse experience but I gotta say I think Death Proof, overall, is the better film. Planet Terror was more fun though.
