So somehow I stayed awake all night, and today I have class from 1400 until 2100. Heck, I'm on campus right now, doing some studio work at UM's library...but I'm wide awake! I woke up yesterday at 2pm after a night out, but I just know it's going to hit me soon, I don't think I can hold out another 12 hours, miracles aside.
I'm not much of a caffeine person - Red Bull makes me sleepy, and I never drink coffee...any recommendations from you crazy people who've pulled allnighters playing video games, watching movies, or wasting time on the forums? Someone recommended me one of those 5-Hour Energy Drink shots... Going home to nap is not an option. |

If you aren't used to drinking coffee that could really help. In college when I would stay up all night to study I'd brew a pot and drink the whole thing in about 2 hours. I'd be awake for hours after that. I later learned it was a better idea to study over time rather than cramming but that was after my freshman year.

I mean, I have no cramming or test or anything due - I just have classes to stay awake for. These are tiny, 10-student classes. Can't really pass out. I'm STILL wired. I have no idea why. Maybe because my 5020 gets delivered in less than 24 hours. (*^@($*%@*(&#

My tip is to do something active, but not tiring. So walk around, but don't run around. If you have to do work in the library before class, just take breaks, walk through some aisles of books, bang your head on a wall, and go back.
During the summer I had to take a section of the CPA exam out of town, at 9am. So I woke up the day before at 12pm, had a normal day, stayed up all night, left my house at around 5am, got to the testing center by about 7am. I spent the last 2 hours wandering through a 24-hr Wal-Mart and a local supermarket. Test finished around 12pm, and I was home by about 2:30. I don't think I went to bed for another 12 hours. At some point you'll probably hit your second wind, so you should be fine. If you feel yourself nodding off in class, just excuse yourself for a minute, and go out in the hall. I find that pinching my ear lobes or poking my eyes helps, because it hurts. |

I thought you might be asking about while driving. I know smokers swear on cigarettes for staying awake, but a beverage in the hand works, too.
For studying, I used to stand up at a counter in the kitchen for all-nighters. I only know one individual who can truly sleep standing up. |
