Default PS3 SACD HDMI -Ripping the sound out of the cable

My LCD-TV (Sharp 52XD1E) got two HDMI ports, my receiver (Pioneer AX5i-S)got ports for nearly every possible input types - in spite of HDMI. As I learned, SACD playback with the PS3 ist only possible with HDMI.
Do you have suggestions for that problem?
Maybe ist there any HDMI Y-cable available which splits HDMI 1.3 into HDMI 1.2 picture and iLink/Firewire sound?

I'd be surprised if there was a way of converting the output of HDMI into anything else, not really something that the manufacturers would have considered I guess.

There may be a software hack to get SACD via the optical, but if Sony have set the PS3 to only output it via HDMI 1.3 then that's how it will output.

You could probably grab a Sony SACD player off ebay for a few quid, they don't fetch a huge amount of money - except the SCD-1, but that is rather special. :-)

SACD playback is only possible with analog multi-channel outputs, Denon Link or HDMI.

Out of those three options the PS3 only has HDMI. If your receiver has HDMI 1.1 and up you can tell it to output SACD as PCM through HDMI.

If your receiver supports DSD through HDMI, which hopefully the new Denon's might later this year, you can listen to the DSD directly.

As I said...my Receiver supports iLink, which is the same as Denon link, which are both only brand names for the same thing: firewire.
The question is...there must be some lanes within HDMI which are reserved for sound transmission..can't those be somehow redirected/connected to iLink or something else port?

If they can be, you'll be the first to do it.

There's nothing on the market like that right now.

That reminds me of last year's summer and the adventure of getting Blu ray playback work on the PC.

No SACD ROM for PC though, that's the biggest difference and the main reason why SACD has never been cracked.

As to my knowledge the Reciever has to have HDMI 1.2a to support SACD playback via HDMI

I have my PS3 connected to my Yamaha 2700 (HDMI 1.2a) through HDMI and than from reciever to TV by HDMI.

But I havent tested the playback of SACD on PS3 in this configuration

hope I helped

You cannot get DSD out of the PS3 playing SACDs. It is all converted to PCM.
