some movies default to that..... go into the language/audio menu on the blu-ray you're trying to play, and make sure you select the HD-MA etc. audio.

What player, what movies?

^^thats your problem right there!!! DVD doesn't have HD audio ...All kidding aside make sure your player is sending the audio as bitstream. Then maybe go into your reciever menu and make sure the audio is set to hdmi as well. Other then that I'm not to sure.

Both dvds say that thay have HD master audio and true HD. I had to look for a bit to find a disc that had HD audio.

My Integra 9.8 doesn't display the HD codec all of the time. If you are getting a TrueHD/DTS HD MA soundtrack, there are some small logos on the front that show what bitstream you are receiving. I have a 7.1 system, so for high resolution audio 5.1 tracks, I have to overlay another listening mode over the HD audio to get 7.1 sound for my setup (and the main display shows DPL IIx or THX ultra 2, it is still TrueHD/DTS HD MA)

Bottom line, make sure your using an HDMI connection.
Set 1500 to bitstream.
Make sure that the receiver is set to amp and not pass through(if applicable).

how are you connected from the player to the receiver? You must be connected via HDMI for starters. If you have a standalone player, set the player to output in bitstream, the receiver will show the hd audio codec on the display

if you have a ps3 then you need to select linear PCM, the receiver will show multi channel but you will be getting the hd codecs. Also make sure you choose the HD audio option from the movies menu
