Default Best way to backup everything in iTunes ?

What is the best way to back up all your music, video's, apps, etc on a portable hard drive?

Can you simply drag and drop?

I need to back up everything into a 1TB HDD that I just purchased and clean so I can clean up my PC.

Thanks fellas

In your My Music folder there should be a folder titled iTunes or iTunes Music. That should have everything that's in your iTunes library. Drag that onto a HDD and you're golden.

Music and Video, yes. I don't think you can really back up the applications because they're saved on your iPod, not your computer.

I would use the "export" function from the drop down menu.

If you just duplicate the folders you may have trouble. I don't actually know if you would have trouble because I always use the "export" option. It works,... that's what it's for,... why do anything else?

Edit- Just checked it's File>Library>Export Library

You could also Carbon Copy Clone your entire hard drive -- or just selected portions of it. That might be the easiest way to do it. I guess it depends on your level of computer savvy and comfort.

I have a script that runs every three hours on my pc that backs up my collection. It does not backup duplicate files so it runs really fast.
